At Guides we follow a varied and exciting programme of activities. our Guides have the opportunity to learn many new things and earn lots of badges. These really vary from sports, camping and navigating to vlogging, baking and making. There really is something for each girl and we love being able to nurture their individual interests. Guides also earn an anniversary badge for each year they are a member of Girlguiding.
"I promise that I will do my best, to be true to myself and develop my beliefs, to serve the King and my community, to help other people and to keep the Guide law."
The Girlguiding Promise falls at the centre of all we do. It is one of the many features that separates Guides from a youth club. It helps us to think about our values, beliefs and opinions and how we can get out and help in the community. After girls have been at Guides for a little while, they will have the opportunity to make their promise at either a promise ceremony to parents and carers or at another special event or occasion. They will then receive their promise badge.
The Guide Law outlines how we should act and help others at Guides, in our local community and beyond.
A Guide is honest, reliable and can be trusted.
A Guide is helpful and uses her time and abilities wisely.
A Guide faces challenge and learns from her experiences.
A Guide is a good friend and a sister to all Guides.
A Guide is polite and considerate.
A Guide respects all living things and takes care of the world around her.

Want to familiarise yourself with the promise, here's a colouring page for you to print and use:
The Girlguiding programme is built around 5 key themes. The girls work towards badges that align with each of these themes. When they have earned certain badges and completed certain activities in our unit meetings, they will receive a theme award for the relevant theme. When they have collected all 5 theme awards, they will be awarded with their Gold Guide award; this is the highest award they can get as a Guide. It is an achievement to be very proud of!
Guides can complete whichever interest badges they would like! They can select these from the Badge Book. Girls must provide evidence to their leaders to receive the badge. They can simply bring in what they've been working on or send us over some photographs and explainations. There is also the option for girls to tell us about what they have done, alongside photographs, if writing isn't their strong point. There are so many ways to present these badges. You can read about the different ways you can approach them in the badge book.
We often get asked about where to put badges, so here are some handy placement suggestions for displaying them on your uniform!
Many Guides also choose to put their badges on a blanket. You could put them with your Rainbows and Brownies Badges. Lots of Guides choose to proudly display their badges on their uniforms, before moving them onto a blanket when they leave Guides.
Patrol and Promise badges are displayed on their uniform, while they are at Guides.
You can use any blanket you like for your badges. You can get the official Girlguiding blanket here:

These blankets from Tresspass are great too if you want a fun colour: https://www.trespass.com/snuggles-fleece-blanket
Your patrol badge should be sewn onto the left-side of your uniform top or dress.
